3 Things You Need to Ask About Caravan Storage.
Providing secure caravan storage in Kent, and the surrounding areas, is one of Seaview Storage’s greatest goals. With 24 hour CCTV surveillance and a safe, dry and  covered area to store your caravan, we are the perfect facility for you to store your caravan away for the winter. Yet what should you be looking for when you put your caravan into storage? Here’s our helpful guide to the three things you should always ask when considering caravan storage.

What are the dimensions of the storage space?
When considering caravan storage Kent, it’s important to take into consideration that not all caravans are the same shape and height. Coachbuilt caravans can be upwards of 2.7m in height rather than fixed roof caravans which can be around 2m. Motor caravans can also be quite long, over 7m for larger models! A storage space advertising for caravans may suits some sizes of caravan but not necessarily yours. Make sure you get the dimensions of your storage space before you make the trip to the storage site. There’s no point bringing over your caravan just to find it won’t fit in a little garage.

What security measures do they have?
Making sure your caravan is safe and secure is obviously the utmost priority. Here’s a few security features you should keep in mind:
  • Perimeter: The first line of defence, what sort of security does the facility have around the outside. Fencing, electronic beams, earth mounds, water filled ditches stop thieves and their vehicles entering the facility in the first place.
  • Access control: Check the access points to the caravan storage pitch. Always check how many accesses there are. Having a secure front entrance means nothing if there are less secure back doors.
  • CCTV:  CCTV is essential due to its effectiveness, especially when combined with a good video recording system. If CCTV cameras and signage are visible, then they act as a deterrent to thieves. If the CCTV is being manned for twenty four hours a day then thieves can also be stopped in their tracks. Even in the worst scenario, when a vehicle is stolen, the video recording will be able to identify the perpetrators and stop them getting away.
  • Security Lighting - Though also a good deterrent, poorly placed lighting can allow would be thieves to sneak in using areas of shadow so check on a facility’s lighting to see how secure your caravan will be.

Will your caravan be protected from the weather?
Caravans are of course made to be used outside, however it’s not ideal for them to sit around and be exposed to the elements for long periods. Be careful where you leave your caravan, especially if it is in an outside storage pitch. Leaves, berries, branches and bird droppings, nature has its ways of damaging your caravan when you least expect it. Undercover storage prevents these troubles, however even those conditions needs to be inspected. Check for signs of damp, icing over, and mold to make sure your caravan is being stored in the best conditions. The best possible ventilation should be found to keep your caravan safe.
